It’s not quite “Old Man Yells at Cloud,” but it’s close enough.
Buccaneers linebacker Lavonte David has been in the league with the Buccaneers since 2012, meaning this weekend’s Super Bowl appearance is the first in his career. The 31-26 NFC championship game win, of course, was cause for at least a little emotion for himself and other Buccaneers players who have yet to taste glory. Tom Brady was having none of that.

Speaking on Patrick Peterson’s “All Things Covered” podcast, David said Brady yelled at a teammate for shedding a few tears after the win, reminding them that the ultimate goal for the team lies ahead.MORE: SN experts pick Super Bowl 55″When I realized that it was real, when I realized that all the other stuff don’t really matter unless it’s the Super Bowl,” David said. “After we won the NFC championship, you know me, I’m all happy and s—, my first, right, I’m all geeked up.
“I guess someone was crying. I heard him (Brady): ‘What the f— you crying for? We not done yet. … He right, he right. I had a little two tears, I wiped my s— quick. I heard him say that, and I said, ‘I’m trippin’, man. We still got work to do.”While it’s an unfamiliar feeling for David and many other Bucs, it’s plenty familiar for Brady, who will be appearing in his 10th Super Bowl, with a shot at his seventh championship ring. Who would know better about what it takes than Brady? If it happens, then, and only then, when Kansas City is in ashes, will Bucs players have permission to cry.
